WellPoint Systems is the premier provider of enterprise applications and related services for managing business in the global energy sector. Its diverse product line reaches across boundaries from upstream to mid-stream – all targeting oil and gas companies globally. In addition to providing solutions that solve the specific needs of regional markets, WellPoint is the only enterprise solution provider on the broad-based Microsoft Dynamics AX platform targeting global energy companies. WellPoint also provides software and services under the BOLO, IDEAS International and DAXEAM brands. The Calgary-based company has major operations in Calgary, Alberta Canada; Denver, Colorado; Houston, Texas; Livingston, New Jersey; Tampa, Florida USA; Tunis, Tunisia; and Pretoria, South Africa. WellPoint is publicly traded on the TSX Venture Exchange under the symbol WPS.
Founded in 1997, WellPoint Systems began with ten employees and two software applications, Well Manager Suite and MaxWell well life cycle system. Before the end of 2000, the company had doubled its product offerings with the acquisition of OMS (Oil Marketing System) from an exploration & production company in 1999 and then COBRA (pipeline and terminal management systems) from a carrier company the following year. By 2001, WellPoint was publically traded on the TSX Venture Exchange.
Over the next seven years, WellPoint would grow substantially with the acquisition of several companies and the development of new software solutions. In 2004, the purchase of EnCompass helped trigger the company’s software development on the Microsoft platform known today as Microsoft Dynamics AX business software. This led to the launch of WellPoint’s first AX application, Energy Financial Management, in 2005. This same year, WellPoint became a Microsoft Gold Certified Partner and the only Independent Software Vendor (ISV) and Microsoft Dynamics partner dedicated to the energy sector.
The acquisition of IDEAS International Inc. in 2006 allowed WellPoint’s growth into the international upstream oil and gas market with their sophisticated financial management software. In 2007, the company acquired iSoft and its Dynamics application now known as AX EAM. WellPoint’s acquisition of BOLO in 2007 further strengthened its position as a global energy software company by improving access to the U.S. market with its integrated multi-tiered financial, land and production accounting solutions for the oil and gas industry in the United States. In 2008, WellPoint’s newest Dynamics AX based product, Energy Broker, went into production at its first client.
Today, WellPoint has nearly two hundred employees across the globe, a clear vision, a strong management team, deep industry knowledge throughout the organization and a unique opportunity to create innovative solutions for the energy industry. |
